Welcome to Tennessee Bodywork. My name is Maria Polo, and I am proud to provide bodywork services to the Nashville and Davidson County communities. As a licensed massage therapist, I'm dedicated to supporting each client’s comfort, movement, and overall wellness through professional and trusted care.

Originally from New Jersey, I moved to Tennessee in 2015 and quickly found a sense of belonging within the community. After earning my massage therapy license in 2019, I opened Tennessee Bodywork in August 2023. My goal has always been to offer a client-centered approach and reliable bodywork services backed by continuing education and hands-on experience.

My practice is influenced by leaders in the field. Techniques from Milton Trager and Ida Rolf form the basis for much of my manual therapy approach. Milton Trager’s work emphasizes gentle movement and neuromuscular integration, while Ida Rolf’s contributions to myofascial release guide my therapeutic method. I've also trained under Magnus and Bobbi Eklund, gaining valuable insight into treating trauma, understanding breathwork, and appreciating the relationship between mind and body.

Having personally navigated injury and chronic pain, I understand the challenges that come with physical discomfort. This experience informs my approach to massage therapy and motivates me to help others manage pain, recover function, and improve quality of life. I'm committed to providing each client with tailored care, focusing on practical and effective outcomes.

My commitment to ongoing education ensures that my practice remains evidence-based and rooted in the best available therapeutic strategies. For example, I've expanded my qualifications through advanced training in myofascial release techniques. These skills allow me to offer a broader range of bodywork services and support clients experiencing both acute and chronic conditions.

In my time outside of my practice, I stay active through hiking, paddle boarding, and kickboxing, although I love a good nap too. I value our Nashville community and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to the health and wellness of Davidson County residents.
